Meet Holly

Sometimes we crumble and never make a sound. This is how a heart breaks

Origins

Born and raised in small-town Alberta Canada, Holly always had dreams of heading stateside and making it big. In 2007, Nashville wasn’t considered the melting pot of music that it is today and people often asked “what are you doing here, shouldn’t you be in LA?” While future collaborations would find the chanteuse in la la land, something about Nashville just felt like home, and still does today.

Holly springs from a wide range of musical influences. She was first exposed to the music parties her parents held in their home where her father, a lawyer by day and ear-playing accordion aficionado by night, would rock the Casbah with an array of eastern European folk music. He also frequently took her to the opera, where the glamor and drama would plant a serious seed of diva-ness. As she grew older she would come to adore the music of the 60’s and 70’s the family would harmonize along to on their yearly 8 hour pilgrimage to British Columbia. She also recalls marveling at how her oldest brother knew the words to every 80’s song on the radio as he drove her to school. Later he and her middle brother would both attend university in the UK and would bring her all the latest pop CDs before the music came out in North America. But it was during the 90’s that Holly felt the emergence of her musical soul, while listening to R&B singers like Mariah, Brandy, Monica, and Mary J.

When it came time to go to university Holly pursued the only avenue of interest she had. She left home to study music and earn her first degree. And that’s how an un-classic array of musical interests turned into a classically trained vocalist.

Although Holly had been writing songs since the age of twelve, it was when her brother Freddy decided to release his first independent album, that she really became inspired. She travelled with him literally and figuratively through the entire process. Deciding it was time to head south of the border but not knowing where or how, Freddy had another bit of guidance; to check out the school of music business at Belmont University in Nashville. After one visit, Holly was in love with Music City.

Since then Holly has been living and working in Nashville as an independent artist and songwriter. Managing her own career has prepared her well for the roller coaster ride of entrepreneurship that she’s been on since opening a nail salon in 2018, but of course, the music never stops…
